Schmittenhöhebahn

The Schmittenhöhe is one of the few mountains that can be reached in a Porsche gondola. If you prefer something more sporty, take one of the many hiking trails directly from Zell am See to the village's 1,965 metre high local mountain. Ideal if you are travelling with children: the high-altitude promenade. This trail is also suitable for younger hikers and offers a special extra with "Schmidolin's hiking puzzle booklet".

Kitzsteinhorn glacier

If you want to go really high, then the summit station on the Kitzsteinhorn is your destination: at 3,029 metres above sea level, it is the highest point in Salzburger Land and is easy to reach with three modern cable cars. During the ascent, you will experience the alpine summit world from ever new perspectives. Once at the top, Gipfelwelt 3000 awaits you with a great 3D cinema and fantastic viewing platforms.

High mountain reservoirs

In the middle of the Hohe Tauern lies one of the most impressive structures of the post-war period. The high mountain reservoirs are located in Kaprun at an altitude of 2,040 metres.Even the journey there by bus and Europe's largest inclined lift is unique. Up here you will discover the impressive mountain landscape with the two reservoirs Wasserfallboden and Mooserboden. Here you can experience the power of water and electricity generation at first hand.

Go on a discovery tour through the Sigmund Thun Gorge in Kaprun with its wild, rushing water.Over a distance of 320 metres, the Kapruner Arche river has cut up to 32 metres deep, creating a unique natural space. The roaring water and the many whirlpools are just the thing for all little adventurers. At the end is the idyllic gorge lake, ideal for a picnic.

Right in the centre of Kaprun, the new Maiskogelbahn now also takes you up to 1,570 metres in summer. The mountain station with its small wooden playground is the perfect starting point for walks, easy hikes and longer tours. As soon as the sun goes down in Zell am See-Kaprun, it is far from dark: from May to mid-October, the Zeller Seezauber awaits you three times a week in the evening - a special kind of water, light, music and laser show. Since its inception, the show has already attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Lake Zell. A fascinating experience for the whole family!

At the Oldtimer Museum in Kaprun, you can experience a real journey back in time to the days when the BMW Isetta and the Messerschmitt Kabinenrollen were still whizzing along the roads. And these are just two of the many originals that can be seen here on 1,400 m². An entire section is dedicated to the history of the Volkswagen and its designer Ferdinand Porsche.

On an expedition to the Schaubergerwerk in Leogang, you will experience the strenuous and dangerous work of the miners. Here you have to bend down and walk in single file: This is the only way to get through the narrow tunnels that were driven into the mountain to mine the ore. Experienced guides lead everyone through the winding paths and tell exciting stories about the miners' dangerous work.

A day of water fun awaits you at the Tauern Spa right next to us. There really is something for everyone here: a large and a small slide as well as two great children's pools with a play area. Indoors, you can choose between sporting activities in the active pool with current channel or relaxation in the relaxation pool with grotto. Outside, you can also enjoy sporting activities or relax in the active pool, the 25-metre sports pool or the brine relaxation pool with music. Tickets for the Tauern Spa are available from reception.
